Horrendous t-shirt MOD into dress!

Looking at Crafter's Best of 2007 I was inspired to mod an old t-shirt into a dress, just as an experiment. So I went to Vinnies and bought the biggest, cheapest t-shirt I could find.

Then I unpicked all of it, and without a pattern I managed to come up with THIS! I am a luma. Note the ancient T.V.

The sleeves made the bodice, and I used some other old material as well as the t-shirt body to make panels for the skirt. The panels were tricky to make, as I used my measurements and divided them by the number of panels... very stupid way to do things. There's also a zip at the back.

I had to do a lot of trying-on and then sewing the wrong bits.
I DO NOT THINK I WILL WEAR IT IN PUBLIC. It's a bit... *bright*.

Little felt friends

I made some cute little felt friends using my new Aranzi Aronzo book. The only potential problem is that I can't read Japanese. My creations MIGHT have been made wrong. I didn't use any pattern for the star.

The lighting looks different in some of the photos... I guess photogrpahy is not my calling!

Brooches!

I've been making brooches! But now I've given them all away. I even made a duckie one and gave it away BEFORE TAKING A PHOTO. Dumb dumb dumb.

First attempt.

Second attempt.

Third attempt.

I see an improvement! I think that the third is the best. Or you could say... a flower in the hand is worth a bird and another bird in a bush?

Fractal Beads

I made some interesting fractal beads following an awesome tutorial by Evil Mad Scientist Laboratories. Their earrings are so much more awesome than my beads I can hardly bear to look at them! I think my main problem was that the colours I used weren't contrasting enough.

I made the octopus using a tutorial by Oborochann on Deviantart. It's not done yet! Bake bake bake.

Blow Keyboard with foot pump!

Yesterday I bought this ridiculously cute blow keyboard.

But this morning when I tried to play my favourite tunes, I found myself running out of breath and getting dizzy. I kept forgetting to breathe and then realising that there was no sound. It took a lot more air to keep it going than I expected. Then I remembered bagpipes. These are all the things I used:

My bag is an empty wine cask with the rubber valve taken off. Then I've got my blow keyboard, a cork that fits the hole in the wine cask, a bit of tube, and a foot pump. Here's a closer look at the cork after my excellent dad and I finished messing with it:

We cut two holes right through the cork with a very thin, very sharp knife. The round hole fits the piece of tubing, and the rectangular hole fits the mouthpiece of the blow keyboard. This is how the bits fit together:

So, foot pump into tubing, tube and mouthpiece into cork, cork into wine cask. Now all I have to do is pump up the bag, and squeeze with my knees while I play and pump! Now I can even sing along! Another option is to blow into the tube rather than use a foot pump.

Welcome to my blog friend.

On this blog I plan to show some of my projects! Yay!
